A few months ago I told you that if you wrote a review of Love Struck then you would automatically be entered in a contest to win this prize! A lot of you wanted this prize! And why not? Who wouldn’t want this prize? Even if I didn’t have wrinkles (which i do) or have dry skin (which i do) or not like shiny new products (which i do) I’d still want this prize. So much so, that the person who wins it may find that every bottle has already been opened, or is missing. (I kid. I didn’t touch it. Promise).
The contest ended last Saturday on the random day that I made up for the contest to close…and then you waited. An entire week because I was running around and forgot to post the winner! Want to know what I was doing? Probably not but I’ll tell you one thing: I went to my first bookclub meeting for a group that had chosen to read Love Struck!
The host of The St. Catharines Ladies Book Club asked me if I’d come to the meeting, but we decided to keep it a secret from the rest of the book club members until I got there – and since I was late (whoops! I forgot that in a small town you really have no excuse of traffic for being late for anything!) they tried to guess who was coming. They all thought Melissa was coming, whoever that is. (Sorry to disappoint!). Anyway, I loved meeting all these women who’d read my book – and even made notes to discuss!
I wanted everyone to be honest about their feelings about the book, just like a regular book club meeting, and it was so interesting to hear everyone’s take on certain aspects of the book such as infidelity, self-discovery and character traits. The host used the bookclub questions that my awesome assistant created and they were really good! (I was stumped on several questions. Hmmm…).
Also, I loved that everyone in the club chooses a quote from the book and reads it aloud. It can be a favourite quote, or a quote that you thought summed up the book or the theme. Great tip for book clubs!

Hello Chantel, I enter contests in different places. The reason I remember the personal gift is because I was curious as to how you could give a personal gift to someone you don’t really know and the fact that you use my favorite colour, pink, for most of your writing. That is something I’ve been doing since my teens and I’m now almost 50 and still using pink as my stationary. Thank-you and have your best day ever!!!
