My bookshelves are too full of books. And many of them are ones I haven’t read.
They’re so full that I’ve had to start hiding books in other places. The Hubs said to me the other day that it’s okay that the entire second bedroom & office in our home are filled with my things. “I have the storage locker for my stuff.” He was sort of joking, though it’s the truth. Unfortunately, it’s not actually the truth anymore. He hasn’t been down to our storage locker in months, maybe, um, even years. And I fear for the day that he does. Because little does he know that while yes, a lot of his stuff is down there, so are suitcases filled with my off-season clothes, overnight and beach bags that I have no place to store in our place, and boxes, bags and more bags filled with all the books I don’t have space for on my shelves, but which I don’t want to just throw away. Some of these books are not necessarily ones I want to keep or read again–those ones are on my bookshelves, for easy access. But I don’t want to throw them out and the used bookstore didn’t want them. Oh! I should take them to Goodwill. Right. I will do that. But for now, they’re in the storage locker.
The storage locker is filled to capacity. In fact, the last time I tried to open the door I was almost killed by the book-alanche.
Obviously, I have to do something about that problem. But right now, I have to do something about the books that I haven’t read in our place, so that I can then take those ones to Goodwill. So I started reading.
Over at Sweetspot, I list a few books I just finished reading/am reading/plan to read this summer.
What are you reading? At the rate I’m reading, I should get through all my unread books by oh, say 2011, and be ready to take new recommendations!
